Kevin McDonnell
Kevin McDonnell, now Mayor of Petaluma, was long bothered by the lack of community engagement on new developments being built in Petaluma. It seemed that the only public meetings had to do with windows and paint color. Then Kevin met Dave and Urban Chat who were having discussions about all the other issues so important to the way a town developed. Together they believed that there was a public appetite for forums to help understand how the City was going to grow. Kevin helped create and lead the spinoff project, Know Before You Grow, as in person events intended to help educate on these issues.
Kevin's been the Mayor of Petaluma since 2023 and on the City Council since 2019. His community involvement in Petaluma goes back to when he moved to Petaluma in 1985 and includes City commissions, civic campaigns, school, church, and youth sports groups. He and his wife have raised their four now adult children here. He is a civil engineer with a background in municipal water and wastewater project management.
