The Civic Brand: What can Petaluma learn about effective public engagement?

Know Before You Grow has a tentative commitment from author Ryan Short to talk about his book The Civic Brand” which will be released on September 30.

From the book blurb: The Civic Brand: The Power & Responsibility of Place is a bold and practical book that challenges conventional thinking about city-building, tourism, economic development, and community engagement. Author Ryan Short introduces a new framework for shaping more resilient, equitable, and loveable places. It’s a call to city leaders, planners, business owners, developers, and residents alike to recognize the power and responsibility we all hold in shaping our places.

It remains to be seen if Petaluma would be able to find a sufficient consensus to create a brand. However, the author has a description of good, and bad, public engagement concepts that are on-target for Petaluma. We’ve asked Short to focus his comments on that aspect of his book.

The plan is to show a video by the author, followed by a robust Q&A about the applications to Petaluma.

This Know Before You Grow forum will be on Zoom. Join us promptly at 7pm.
