Forum #9 September 8: Planning 101
In the past few months (2021), the city has begun engaging the community in developing a common vision for Petaluma. This forum set out to level set all of us on some of the basics of planning so that we can develop a common framework for talking about planning over the course of updating the General Plan. Petaluma City Planning provided an overview of the planning process and how all the bits and pieces of planning tools and instruments fit together. We discussed at a high level, how the General Plan guides zoning ordinances, what is are Specific, Area, and Topic plans. We also touched on what factors determine what in the General Plan is actually implemented.
